How to Set Up Shipping Based on Tags

FlawlessPOS now allows you to configure Shipping Rules based on item tags, order value tiers, and default rules. This lets you streamline shipping logic, apply special rates for tagged items, and offer flexible pricing across all order types. 

Step 1: Accessing the Admin Module

To begin, access the Admin module by following these steps:

• Open the Left Navigation Menu on your dashboard.

• Select the Admin option from the menu under the Store dropdown list. 

• Navigate to Account → Online.
• Scroll down to Online Shipping Rate Ranges and click Update Shipping Rules.

Step 2: Edit or Create a Shipping Rule

In the pop-up window, you’ll see your current shipping rules. Each rule contains the following fields:

• Destination (e.g., Domestic)

• Type (Standard, Express, etc.)

• Display Name (label shown to customers)

• Rate (cost of shipping)

• Discount Rules (optional)

• Tags (used to apply the rule conditionally)

Step 3: Use Tags to Control Rule Application

1. Add a tag to the Tags column for the shipping rule.For example: IFB-1
   
   

2. The shipping rule will only apply when an item in the cart has a matching tag.

Step 4: Add More Shipping Options

1. Click Add a shipping option at the bottom-left of the window to create a new rule.

2. You can build as many rules as needed, including a mix of standard, premium, Ground, and tag-based configurations. 

Three Ways Shipping Rules Can Apply

• Default Rule – If no specific condition is met, the default rule is used (as marked with the checkbox).

• Tiered Pricing – These can be configured using order value.
  Example:

  • $5.00 shipping for orders under $250

  • Free shipping over $250
    
    

• Tag-Based Shipping – This option applies only when an item in the cart has a matching product tag. A shipping rule with a tag will not trigger unless the tag is present, unless it is also marked as the default.
  

  • Based on the example above, the cart currently has a shipping fee of $0 due to the product being tagged under IFB-1 which is defined in the example as free shipping.
