If you have a product that’s composed of multiple parts (for example, a semi-mount and a center stone) and need to separate them into individual inventory items, you can use the Disassembly Job process in the Service Jobs module.
This allows you to remove the combined item from inventory and add its individual parts back as separate products.
Steps to Separate or Disassemble an Item:
Access the Service Jobs Module:
Go to the Service Jobs module.
Click Create a Job and select Advanced Service Job.
Add a Disassembly Job Line:
Click Add Service Job Line.
From the dropdown, select Disassembly Job.
Select the Product to Disassemble:
In the product picker, search for and select the item you want to separate.
This will serve as the main product that’s being disassembled.
Add Disassembled Parts:
Under Disassembled Parts, add the individual items that will result from the disassembly (for example, the semi-mount and the center stone).
Enter the appropriate quantities and wholesale values for each part.
Complete the Job:
Finalize and complete the disassembly process.
The original combined item will be removed from inventory, and each new part will be added as its own inventory item.
If one of the parts needs to be returned to the vendor, perform a standard Merchandise Return for that item.
You’ll now have separate inventory items for each component, allowing you to manage or return them individually while keeping accurate inventory counts.
